Pete grew up in Oklahoma.  He studied Engineering at Princeton University.  After working at Hewlett Packard for two years, he attended Georgetown Law Center.  Upon receiving his J.D in 1989, Pete moved to the Bay Area to practice law.

Pete has practiced law in the state and federal courts in California since 1989.  Prior to opening Shearer Law Offices in 1998 to concentrate on employment law, he was an associate with Wilson, Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati and Cooley, Godward in Palo Alto.  He also gained mediation experience while working with the Special Masters of Griffiths and Castle in Palo Alto.

Since 1998, Pete has guest lectured on employment law issues in U.C. Berkeley’s Venture Design course and at Cañada College. 

Pete resides in San Mateo.  He is an avid baseball fan and soccer dad.  He also enjoys skiing, history and travel.
